Workshop: Introduction to Narrative Practices
An Anti-oppressive practice
Narrative practices are based on the belief that people are not the problem but the problem is the problem. It locates the problem in the oppressive systems rather than communities and people’s bodies and identities. And stories help us in creating the distance between the person and the problem; to help the person renegotiate their relationship with the problem on their terms and re-author their story.
In this workshop, participants will explore
1.
The metaphor of stories and geography of identities
2.
Agency and Know-hows
3.
Externalisation map – distancing the problem
4.
Re-authoring map
